Fanart: Merry Christmas

Hi Folks,

EBF5 for iOS is now live!
You can find it listed as Epic Battle Fantasy 5: RPG on the App Store. Please remember to leave us a review 🙂

We’ve been working hard to push out the iOS version of EBF5 as well as getting various other things out of the way before the holidays, and now that Christmas Week is here we’ll be taking it easy with work and focusing on the holidays. We’ll still share some fanart over the holiday period with you, and you should know we won’t be doing a Christmas Key giveaway this year.

PS. If you’ve not played EBF5 in a while, there’s a Holiday Event going on right now, where you can get your mitts on some unique equips. Happy hunting!

Here’s some lovely Christmas fanart we’ve been saving since the start of the year from Ggeishere.

EBF5: iOS Beta is live

Hey guys, Epic Battle Fantasy 5 now works on iOS – you can test the beta version through the TestFlight app.

The game is pretty much finished except for some native features – cloud saving, in-app purchases, and ads don’t work yet. I’ll try to get those working soon.

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering – it’s still 100% Flash with vector art graphics, and it runs great. It runs much better than it does on PC! Flash is super optimized on iOS – very underrated fact.

And on Android – if you missed the news – the game is already fully released.

The mobile version of the game is the same as the PC version, but has a larger UI, and some quality of life improvements, such as support for 20:9 aspect ratios. Oh, and it’s free-to-play. You get the whole story for free, and the optional dungeons and other game modes are paid DLC.

Good luck!

EBF5: iOS Progress

Hey guys, you may have noticed that I added a progress bar on this website for the EBF5 iOS port. The game already works perfectly on my iPhone 11!

I managed to play the game for 9 hours before the batteries died, which I think is pretty good. I didn’t notice any performance issues, and even the experimental “Turbo Mode” runs very smoothly. I’m glad I updated the game to 20:9 aspect ratio too – it looks really good with the extra space.

I need to move a few UI elements around slightly to accommodate the iPhone notch and home bar, but that’s been pretty simple so far. Next up is getting in-app purchases, ads and cloud saving working – I don’t think I’ll have to change my code much for this, it’s more a case of doing some complicated configuration in Apple’s tools. It was quite a pain on Google Play, but all the steps seem very different on iOS, so I have no idea how it’s going to go.

If there’s no major issues, it could be ready for beta testing in a couple of weeks!

EBF5 Mobile Progress etc

Hey guys, I’ve been back to work on the mobile ports of EBF5.

I’ve fixed a lot of minor issues in EBF5 for Android, but still have more to go before I push out an update.
One fun addition is that I’ve made the slime minigame change theme based on seasonal events.

I’m making some progress on the common crashes – I’m helping the AIR/Flash developers debug some issues with the Android runtime. That will take some time, but someone’s definitely working on it. The important part is that the crashes aren’t my fault!

I’ve bought an iPhone 11, so I’m starting the process of porting my games to iOS. With some luck, it won’t take too long, and I can work on it alongside the Android crash issues.

The Epic Battle Fantasy Collection is pretty much finished, I doubt it will get any substantial updates from now on. Someday I may add Bullet Heaven 3 [Prototype] to it, but that’s a long time away, if it happens at all, with Ruffle still being a work-in-progress.

Finally, I’ve uploaded the full source files for Adventure Story, both the old web version, and the new Steam version, on my Patreon for any tier. You’ll need Flash/Animate to make any use of them, and can only use them for education or modding.

Anyway, that’s all for now.
