EBF4: New Lore

Hey guys, in my previous post I mentioned that all battle dialogue in EBF4 will now have full-sized emoticons to go with it. Well I figured this would also be a good chance to add some new dialogue for the bosses, something which I regretted not doing after I first made the game. All 12 main bosses have new dialogue, and there’s also a few new lines for the players in relation to the new summons. Overall, there’s gonna be a lot of little extras to incentivize you to replay the game.

EBF4: In-Battle Emoticons

All in-battle dialogue in EBF4 now shows full emoticons. Now the cringe can be fully expressed.

This should have been a feature all along, not sure why I didn’t do it in the original game. But the in-battle dialogue in EBF4 is much more brief than it is in EBF5, and a lot sillier.

Anyway, coming to the mobile port first, and PC version later.

EBF4: Widescreen Cutscenes

Hey guys, I extended all of the cutscenes in EBF4 to fit the new widescreen format. Since the art style is so cartoony, scaling and rearranging stuff was pretty simple to do.

I’ve also been quietly optimising how assets are loaded – maps and menus with a lot of icons loaded quite slowly the further into the game you got, and that hopefully won’t be the case any more.

The port is 33% finished so far.

Next up: updating the out-of-battle interface to suit mobile screens.
