EBF4: Version 3 complete!

Epic Battle Fantasy 4 version 3 is live for everyone now!
And the Steam store page has been updated to show off its new widescreen beauty, and some of the new weapons.

Please leave a review for the game if you haven’t yet!

Here are the details about the update.

I’m gonna take a break this week and get back to the mobile port next week. (69% done)

If you missed it, last week I was making a bunch of new EBF5 icons for modders to use in their projects (scroll down to see ’em) and the winners and runner ups of the EBF Valentines Art Contest also look awesome.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4: Version 3 live!

Hey guys, Epic Battle Fantasy 4 on Steam has been updated to version 3. Currently it’s an opt-in beta, but if there’s no major issues, it should be the default version for everyone in a week or two. Your old save files should still work.

This version adds widescreen support, a new UI, and a bunch of new content. A lot of people haven’t played version 2 either, so there’s even more features from that.

If things go smoothly, the mobile port should be done in a month or two as well.

Here’s a full list of changes for version 3 and version 2.

EBF4: In-App Purchases

Hey guys, I’m working on the in-app purchases for EBF4 mobile.

Here’s an image of all the money you can spend in the game. In total it’s half the price of EBF5’s in-app purchases. Like in EBF5, you get optional ads after battles unless you pay up, and there’s a bunch of side content you can buy and play at any point.

For regional pricing reference – everything in EBF5 was the equivalent of $8, and EBF4 will use the same price conversion.

And here’s how the title screen looks with all the new links that mobile games are (mostly) required to have. The port is around 55% done now.

EBF4: Improved Controls

A big part of updating the EBF4 map controls for mobile is making sure all of the interactive elements actually have the hitboxes they appear to have. In the original game, you needed to click on an NPC’s feet to talk to them, or on the tile in front of a sign to read it, for example. This was pretty awkward, even on PC, and has been fixed now. NPCs, foes, and slime cats now have two tiles you can click on, and smaller objects like item pedestals have been centered better on their single tile. This is especially useful for touch controls where there is less feedback, but helps a lot with mouse controls too.
