EBF5: Natalie v2

Update: Removed some sounds and made Natalie’s voice a bit higher.

Hey guys, I’m working on the players again.
It’s been a while since I did Natalie and Anna’s animations, so I’m updating them a bit.
Some changes: New evade animation, graphics touched up slightly, some new sound effects, and some more clickable easter eggs.

But the major thing is that I added some Zelda-style vocals: just grunts and screams.
I’m not sure how I feel about it at the moment – they’ll probably need a lot of tweaking once the battle system is ready and I can properly test them in context.
You can hear them during: Hit 1, Hit 2, Die, Revive, Item Catch, Magic 4, 5, 6 and Attack. A lot of them are randomized a bit.

Call me a prude, but I actually really like many of her outfits with the “NSFW” option turned off. I think the style and design of many of them look much better when it’s a bit more modest. Thank you for considering that and adding it into the game!

Where did Natalie go and why is inspector Jacques Clouseau wearing a dress and frilly wig? :wut:

Man, I really didn’t expect Natz to sound like that. I dunno, I always had a head canon that the characters had extremely thick Scottish accents, I mean it just fits their designs. Its not a big deal in the long run however. Everything else looks great. :love2:

I see what you did with Red Ribbon + Santa Outfit :love2: Matt, you are the Guy, and please don’t remove this “Gift” combo on the final version :shades:

No offense but.. I think her some of her voices are… not really nice to hear. And I was expecting more CUTE but not too cute voice. Like that of those teenage cartoon girls. That could’ve sounded better, for me. I’m thinking of a voice somewhat like Cylindria’s voice from Pacman Adventures.

Out of curiosity, Is there going to be an option to mute the character voices? It’s not due to the audio specifically, Rather after four games I’ve become accustomed to the lack of character audio and supplemented voices in my read when I read the dialogue. I just don’t want the audio throwing with off for me is all. :smirk:

I just can’t wait to see the other players!

(I guess Nolegs will have some meowing voice sounds, right?)

    I like the update-

The defend and heal sounds will be really difficult to get used to- (I liked the old ones)
The sound she made when she died was really good- but it’s that you removed it because it didn’t quite fit with the other voice sounds-

Hey, hair dyes! Love that! Also, while I do like the idea of giving characters some voice, I’ve been playing EBF without it for so long that it seems off to me and will take getting used to! (And likely there’ll be a toggle?)

But, I’m happy that my favorite animation looks better than ever. No, it’s not the boing, you pervs! I mean the one where you get hit for massive damage and get whacked clear off the screen (the little hair strands left behind and slowly falling to the ground looks quite nice).

I don’t like her voice. It sound too deep and porny. And when she evades it just sounds like a slight orgasm. At the very least there should be an option to have the voices turned off.

Oh and you should totally voice matt aka. yourself!

Hair Dye?! :stars: That’s an awesome feature! If you do implement the grunts could you also make an option to turn them off? Looking good though!

It’s nice to see you’re trying to give the cast a bit more personality. I do like the idea of the voice clips, although
I think some of them need a different tone (other are great as they are now though). I did notice that things like
the idle sound, passing food, healing are a bit louder than they should be. Having purple hair dye would be nice
    to have as well.

Graphically, you did an amazing job. The equips look great and since you have the NSFW option now, you can
do whatever fits for the outfits. I just hope you can toggle the outfits individually from everything else, since I like
either the standard or NSFW version better with different outfits. Props for giving Natalie physical attack options
    btw.

Just some of my thoughts on this. Keep up the good work. :yay:

I have to agree with most opinions here: Natalie’s voice sounds too deep. I’d feel more confortable with an anime voice for her.
On the other hand, this voice could actually fit Anna.

Ooh, this is really cool! I like the idea. I feel like Natalie’s should be a little different… like, I imagined her a bit different. Idk. More high pitched, maybe?? But I dig this, as long as Lance’s voice isn’t really deep. Please no lol. ❓

To be honest I think the voice for the girls should definitely be more high pitched, both are too deep, even after the update. Get sound bytes from animes, not just for Matt but for all 4 characters, as it would fit them a lot more. It’s okay if they sound “younger” than they actually are, it would fit the style of the game a lot more. Sounding like teenagers would be better than sounding like 30 year olds.

Also the “boing” sound on the boobs is unnecessary and annoying, at least give an option to disable it.

Lastly, PLEASE bring back the old heal sound, it’s probably one of the best SFX in the entire series, and way better than the current one.

The animations seem top notch and the artstyle quality looks much better here. Can’t wait to see Matt and Lance’s animations too!

I have to say I quite like it. Gives the characters more life. Only a couple major issues.

The evade ones seem a bit too loud/’big’ for the animation. Otherwise I think the majority of them fit their animation. One thing you’ll want to do is make sure they have cool downs, or at least only trigger at the beginning or end of a series of hits. That way multihit attacks don’t spawn a dozen overlapping grunt sounds.

Death scream sounds like the old one, maybe a bit louder. But it doesn’t really match the ones she has now. Might want to touch the death one up a bit?

Was kind of expecting the ‘cheer’ to have sound effects. Like a ‘Haha’ or something like cheering.

Biggest complaint would be the idle’s volume. Its a nice touch to have all of her button presses make actual noise and I would like to hear the other idles do the same, but as it stands the button presses are incredibly loud and a bit detracting.

Other than those few issues, I am positive about this and wish to hear the others.

    – Voice is too deep imo, raise the pitch a bit

    – Boing sound is unnecessary

    – Left eye is leaning off her head; normally this is fine, but when you can shift the hair that normally hides it with your mouse…

The grunts for Natz are just a little too deep in my own personal opinion. I feel a character like Natz would have a higher voice style to match her looks. as far as the clickable/mouseover movements (ex. hair) i like them. They are very nice and add a bit of an extra touch to the game. as for the ‘boing’ sound on her *cough cough* bosom, I think that should be removed, if not very quiet. Granted people don’t usually mess with them for much other than the usual achievement, but the fact it is that loud just for a small Easter egg type deal, makes it seem almost like a bigger thing than need be.

Other than that however, i’m very excited to see how the remaining character development turns out.

lmao honestly i think im the only one thats completely fine with natz’s voice

the only thing i find off about the new sounds is that id much rather have the jiggle physics without the boing noise and that the tapping on the consoles are a tad bit too loud

I’m not opposed to the idea of having voices, however this voice sounds a bit too deep for her. Aside from that i like all the animations and sounds, maybe add separate volume options for some the sound effects, the clicking from the idle animations might get annoying after a while.

Most of her grunts sound erotic(I don’t know if that’s just me) and her voice sounds a bit too deep. It’s not what I would expect from someone like Natz to sound like. The only one that I liked that fitted her most is the sound she makes when she dies probably because it’s a high pitched voice like those that you can typically find from female characters in JRPGs, that I think would fit her best overall. And yeah an option to be able to disable them would be great for people that just want a more classic EBF.

I really don’t like those grunts, seriously. I think the main problem is that they don’t really fit with the rest of the game. Realistic grunts (that sound kinda sexual) in a cartoon game. I personally would prefer them not in the game, but an option to disable them would please everyone.

I don’t like those grunts for Natalie. I usually hate the anime-girls’ voices, but I think that they are the ones that fit her the best, due to its physical appearence and behavior. Those ones that you say you have taken from Zelda sound too deep, imo. And I prefer better the old healing sound too (I prefer it quite a lot).

i agree with vcgamer. also i like the little changes when you mix and match some equipment with each other, for example the ribbon head ornament with the Christmas armor :meh: . i cant wait to see what the other characters will have. oh one last thing, when i noticed the changes i was hoping that the knife and school uniform would of had a combination change like red eyes to get that “no one touches sempai” look (yes i know the knife is an undertale reference).

I still miss the artstyle of the previous games, but this looks pretty good.

This is a personal preference, but perhaps you should hire an actual VA? The vocals sound like they came from a TTS device. As it is it sounds rather inorganic and unpleasant. Also, I’ve always imagined Natalie’s voice to have a midrange tone, instead of the rather deep tone heard here. (I also don’t really imagine her voice to have posh elements, but I’m not making this game :P)

well … it looks not so safe some of her ” grunts ” looks more like orgasms , so i guess maybe put an option to turn on/off those voice sounds or change some for a better non-sexy voice , more like giggles for healing or buffing , and some ” angry scream ” for magic attacks , the death is kinda okay like it is , hope that helps a bit , and the right eye of natz its out of her face

Something on the graphical front: One of her eyes (the one closest to the weapon) appears to be hanging off the side of her face This isn’t too bad as is, but it’s noticeable during Idle 1 (and to a lesser extent Idle 2).
