EBF3 Changes

Hey guys, I’m working on Epic Battle Fantasy 3 at the moment.
I’m thinking about what changes to make, and here’s my plan so far:

• Ads removed – except for links to EBF4 and BH2.
• Small options menu somewhere, with mute, quality, fullscreen, fast forward, and window size buttons. Can’t promise all of those but I’ll try.
• Less file compression on jpegs and music.

That’s probably it to be honest. The game is made in ActionScript 2 (which is like 8 years out of date) so it’s unlikely that I’ll get any of the Steam features working. But I will see if it’s possible.

I’m also not going to change stuff like spelling and grammar mistakes – because they’re everywhere and it would be a slippery slope to rewriting the whole thing. It’s an old game and it’s very poorly made by my current standards. I don’t want to waste any time fixing stuff I’m not happy with – because that’s most of the game.

Anyway, I’ve got the game compiling and running correctly at the moment – which was tough actually, because a lot of the files were missing chunks for some reason. Luckily I managed to find backups. I was very stingy with Dropbox usage when I was on the free version back then.

I’d like to think shipping this on Steam will only take a few days, but problems and distractions always come up, so we will see.

New life for Cat Cafe and EBF3

Hey guys, EBF5 is 25% done!

So I’m gonna take a little break and work on publishing Cat Cafe on the web, and maybe on Steam too. If ya’ll remember, it’s that little idle game for phones that I made. It was up on Android, but it got taken down cause I never updated it for some new rules after months of warnings.

It’s not an amazing game, but I’m interested to see who might enjoy it (It got over 300,000 installs on Android somehow), and it’ll be 100% free, so I don’t think there’s much to complain about.

I’m also planning to put EBF3 up on Steam (also free), but that’ll be a bit more work – hopefully still not too much. I probably won’t make any changes to the game except for adding that mute button everyone wanted. Just gotta figure out how to do stuff like full screen in good old Actionscript 2.

Anyway, decent free games on Steam seem to get a lot of attention, so this is my chance to catch some eyeballs while other indie devs are putting price tags on their small 30-minute games.

EBF5: Buffs

Here’s some new buff animations.
I’m gonna do a bit more to separate magic and physical attacks – including giving some foes naturally high resistance to one or the other. But also there will be two status effects that make you immune to one but weak to the other. This will be a rare status for the players to get – it will probably cost summon points, but for enemies it’s not as useful so they’ll use it a bit more.
