Here’s the map demo for Epic Battle Fantasy 5!
This is for testing the map movement and puzzle mechanics, as well as a lot of the menus that only appear outside of battle.

These are not real maps, but if you make it to the end of the demo, you’ll get to see a small sample of a real area!

I recommend going to the EBF Discord to chat about this demo and to report bugs, but you can also do that here.

    I found a little bug.
    When you put a ladder into a room, go outside the room, and come in the room again, the ladder is visible but you can’t walk on it. :smirk:

        go to sheeps lance character and him kills left sheep or other idk.

      Same here, but I figured it out! There is a cardboard box in each place where the spikes are with “x” and “-” in a specific order…. Use those combinations in the lever switchs area and they will open :smirk:

    I found a bug:
    When I just opened this for the first time I whent staight to load game, then load backup file, then cancel (since their are nun). After all of that nothing happend when I pushed New Game.
    Maybe because I annoyed the game too much? :wut:

    Small bug, when viewing a fully upgraded skill, the amount of AP the character has left reads 500000 even if you’ve spent it all already.
    Other than that, this is awesome! I’ve been playing since battle royale and this series never fails to impress. I’ll probably find some way to buy the game multiple times.

    That was really enjoyable and thank god I did it… that 3rd block puzzle was a pain in the ass to complete. No bugs found here… I think I got most of the secret. The Panties, the Bottled Light and Dark, and the 3 stones. Good Stuff! :hurray:

    All the bugs I noticed, at least in my playthrough: when equipping anything, there is always extra HP shown in the changes (usually something like current hp minus 3 or so) – although it does not change anything when actually done. When an equip gives HP buff, the HP shown is a number that seems to be current HP + actual HP bonus, but it still only adds the actual HP bonus when equipped. :wut:
    Removing an extra skill does not actually remove it if it has been upgraded even once. :wut: :?: :?:
    Certain skill descriptions look squished up (I think this happened after I looked at the extra skills?).
    Also: although the bestiary shows only some foes (with the icons and such), it is possible to access the description of any foe by using the “previous” and “next” arrows. (Which was very lucky for us who got some sneak peeks at the new foes! :ooo: )
    Still: this demo was very nice, and I loved the various puzzles! :love: Though I wonder: was the water currents one supposed to be harder? The currents only made you advance slightly, and were not that annoying. :wut: Might be that I am used to those Pokemon RSE puzzles… Now, THOSE currents were annoying!
    (Also: I spent I don’t know how much time trying to solve the ice puzzle with the chest in the middle before realizing that it was meant to be unsolvable :scared: )
    I liked the new “steroids” system, but the attack increase for Nat seems a bit useless… Also, there is a bit less room for customization (since anything found will only be useful for one player only, and anything extra has to be bought), but I guess it’s fine since you can buy them. (Also, are Anna’s grapes supposed to be green…? Mature grapes are usually either whitish-yellow or purple… :wut: )
    I really like the skills, both the icons and how they (seem to) act! Though I wonder, why does Natalie have two light skills

      I am pretty sure they are useless(at least in the demo).Same goes for the 3 crystals that appeared in EBF4 and that you find in the final room in this demo.

    now, i have a bug report and a question
    the Bug is that using the Teleportation cat can block the charater at the arrival
    the question is….
    is there a use for the 3 Jewels from the end and the Bottled Light/Darkness from the dark zone?
    i looked everywhere but i couldn’t find anything :c

    i didn’t explored abilities and items a lot, but i’m confident they’re good :D

      I haven’t been able to reproduce the teleport bug, but several people have mentioned it. Can you make it happen regularly?

    Bug report: Occasionally when you walk out of the house the map wont be shown however the player bar and icons are still there and you can move but without seeing anything.

    For the very last puzzle you could make it much more interesting by making the statues slide like they are on ice and changing the very center rock into a tile you can walk over but can’t slide blocks over. The one that is 2 spaces below the left potted plant/tree thing.

    I walked away for a few minutes, and my screen-saver(turns off) came on. When it turned back on, the game window was just black. Probably a problem with my flash, and nothing to do with your game, but :neutral:

    BUG REPORT: When using the Teleportation Slime Cat, I got Black Screened. I can fully interact with the HUD at the bottom but the rest is just black.

    Besides that, I’m honestly really looking forward to this game and really love what you’ve given the community so far to excite them for this awesome series next great game! Keep up the great work and all that you do!

        I think summons are usually counted as one skill option, like the base skill but with a lot of options to it, sort of like skills with changable element and status effect. :coffee: :bacon:

      As I noticed many skills were combined. Eg.: Heal and Healmore are now one. If you upgrade the basic Heal enough, then you can choose to target the whole party or only one character for increased effect.

    Very nice demo. Nice to see that you can always one up yourself Matt.
    The NPC voices seem out of place, but that may only be because of the lack of Music.

    Also a minor bug: You can walk through the bed in the starting area.

    Finished the game in 35 minutes, have to say it was weird playing the beginning part where the textures aren’t as good, but then of course as I unlocked the last area, I was amazed at how detailed everything was

    Got stuck a couple of times but then I rechecked my key items and made it through, the spike switch puzzle threw me off since I thought there wasn’t any clues but you did
    I also grabbed the three legendary jewels as my trophies, The Emerald Leaf, The Sapphire Snowflake, and the Flaming Ruby (there’s some names for ya)

    I found a potentially alarming bug. When you attempt to equip more than one summon from the menu, the game ‘crashes’. You’re unable to click anything else on the screen, and each click produces another error message. Maybe you’re not meant to click and drag summons to the empty slots, but it’s something I thought necessary to take into consideration. :ooo:

  17. I beat it and it was fun to play. I really liked the puzzles and the mechanics.
    The only bug I found was that, after reloading the game, the green bush and the electric bat enemies stopped spawning.

    It was a good demo.
    I am really looking forward to the game.
    Been following this blog even before EBF4 was released on steam.
    I am curious about how the dual status effects work(wet & dry, etc).
    And the way you display chance of getting status effects and how many stacks it gives is so simple and yet so smart.
    This is one of my favorite turn-based RPG game in recent years. Not many good turn-based RPGs lately.

    When I have to leave EBF4 for a while, it bothers me how the game keeps running and the game time is increasing even though I’m not playing.

    Just a question: Why does matt not have any swords? I try not to spoil the game but I decided to give this demo a try but when browsing the equips for the Heaven’s Gate, it was not there… You probably have a good reason but I remain a little curious about this decision. ALSO I got Bullet Heaven II yesterday! :stars: :bacon:

    I’ve noticed disappearing save files, too! When completing the demo, however (I’ve done it 3 times at least :!: :!: :stars: ) Other than that, great demo! I’ve joined the ranks of those to figure out all the puzzles completely unaided :!:
    I have a suggestion for the Battle Demo (should I have posted there instead :?: ) : update it so that the skill names match the newer ones here!
    I was also thinking “What if the demo was modified so that, with Late Game settings, everyone had every special skill they could learn, even when it would mean more sharing of skills :?: In terms of, say, Protect, Barrier, and Encore, it wouldn’t affect how often they’re used because the cooldowns are shared between all “copies” of any shared special skills.

    I’m missing 4 keys and I can’t get to 6 chests. Any help? I can’t find the last coral, silver, wood or topaz keys. Pretty sure I need at least two of those to access the rest.

    Pathfinding problem: On the top right screen, when I click on a candle, I go on the water next to the candle, but cant interact with it. The correct path would lead me onto land next to the candle.

    Menu suggestion: When you are in the buy or sell menu of a shop, replace the back button that takes you back to choosing between buying and selling by an exit button that takes you out of the store.

    I found load of stuff at the of the game, but still have no idea what do the bottle of light and bottle of darkness do.
    Also I found 3 weird crystal: a Leaf crystal, a Water crystal and a Fire crystal. Are they standed for something?

    You may want to check how the summons are organized. I found a problem with the Lost Fallen. It slashes one target with a wind attack and buffs all allies with morale status. which means it should come up when I tell the summons screen to show me “Attacks One” and/or “Buffs & Heals”. He shows up in “Attack One” but not in “Buffs & Heals”. other than a few hiccups the game seems to be coming along nicely. keep up the good work! :yay:

    Umm I have pretty much every key item except magnetic shoes and torch, where do I find them? As far as chests go, The ones i don’t have are the 2 near that ice puzzle, the one with the golden locks, the one with the brass locks, and any involving the torch.
    Help? :wut:

    Bug: If you go into the demon gate thing and then go out, clicking on a tile on the very right side of the screen will let you walk through walls.

    Puzzle problem report, even though this puzzle won’t be in the final game: it is possible to completely lock yourself inside the variable-sized block puzzle, and then save the game. Specifically the right most puzzle, as follow. Push the 2×2 block left once, then the 2×1 block up once (so that it hits the wood pile), then push the left most 1×1 block up twice, push the 1×3 block next to it left. Next push the 2×2 block twice to the right all the way, then go inside around the wood pile to push the 3×1 block down all the way, then push the 2×1 block left. Now you should be stuck :cry: :scared:

    Bug report: when an NPC is facing right or down the weapon will be on the right hand, but when facing up or left the weapon will be on the left hand

    Really same bug as in EBF4 but less obvious since the players no longer hold weapons in hand while walking around, but NPC still do. Which lead to the question: why do players no longer hold weapons?
