EBF5: Release Info

Hey guys, here’s some info about the Steam release…

Epic Battle Fantasy 5 will cost $15 on Steam. The release date is “Late 2018”. The soundtrack will be sold separately, probably for $5. It’s DLC, so you can’t buy it on Steam without the game, but you can get it directly from Phyrnna for a little more.

Everyone who owns EBF4 on Steam will get a 20% discount coupon for EBF5. I think Valve sets this up so that coupons are sent out just after launch. This works better for me than a launch discount, because it lets me notify 200,000 Steam users at once. Should make for a decent marketting campaign to get the ball rolling.

Once the coupons expire after a month, I’ll release a Steam bundle of EBF4, EBF5, and Bullet Heaven 2. This bundle gives you 20% off if you “complete the set”. If you only own EBF4, for example, you can buy the other 2 games together for 20% off. This will be a permanent deal going forward, and it works in conjunction with other discounts. It’s basically a scam to make people buy BH2.

Patrons who have given me at least $15 will get Steam keys a few days before official release, so they can double check that everything is working correctly.

The free web version will be released once I’ve had a break from the Steam release. But the beta will most likely stay up on this website until then anyway. Saves between all versions will be compatible, and easily transferable with the save backup feature. Saves from the beta may have a few minor problems – such as permanently missing an equip or two if you save in the wrong place.

Is it possible to get any of your games on Switch? I love this series and would love to bring the new game on the go.

    Hey Matt,

First of all, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, or this was asked before and I happen to miss it.
My question is, I have several save files between different devices (3 to be precise), if the game will be out, and I back them all up, how the files will merge together? Will the medals earned be all there?

Thank you for your answer, and keep up the good work!

    Hey Matt,

Seeing how the game is pretty much out now, I was wondering if I could get ahold of the uncompressed version of the Public Beta V.9?

I became a patreon for this specific reason, but can only find up version 0.6 on your patreon page.

    Thanks :yay:

Sorry, there’s no up-to-date uncompressed version at the moment. I’ll bring that back shortly before the Steam release. It’s a hassle to reconfigure the game between the two.

Laurelin’s conditions for captured should probably be lowered to account for it being perma-breezy. You can use summons to change this, but it still is annoying.
I spent much more time catching it then fighting it on Epic.

Did you try upgrade the Curly Horns Female Head Gear? It allows easier catching foes at higher upgrade levels, maybe you want to try it out. Or maybe you try make the boss surrender using abilities like Ana’s Bow Whack. Surrendering enemies have a 100% chance to be catched.

Probably part of the update, but I now have a Fairy, Angry Face and Amethyst Earrings. They replaced my clock and two other flairs.

Bad news, getting the fairy from the chest (right after fighting Lance) does not give me a clock, it just gives me the fairy.
      Again.
So basically the clock was somehow removed in this update.
      Thank goodness for Auto-save.

Hm, Clock reappeared in the Greenwood shop.
Which happens to have the same stuff as the Port Hope, not sure if they have a pool of items or if they are supposed to be unique.

    Hey Matt,
as I’m currently playing the Beta here I came to a thought. Now that Steroids are character specific it might get more difficult to build characters in a very specific way, like Matt with poor magical properties going strongly on magic stats and probably the same for Natalie with her physical properties. I wonder how it would be if you added some sort of coupons for free steroids and which can be bought at the same price as usual steroids. This would actually mean you could buy a Crispy Bacon for 1000 coins and another one with 1000 coins for the coupon instead of the 2000 necessary with the usual purchase. Such a coupon could help to further optize a specific property of any one of your characters beyond the highly limiting costs of buying steroids with doubling prices on every purchase. The same could be done by giving some steroids as quest rewards being chosable for your favored character.

I liked how in EBF4 some total untypical building ways were possible due to how steroids could be used. Now that you have 5 types of characters with their own steroids instead of 5-times the steroids which could be freely distributed to any character(EBF 4) it feels like such untypical builds might be less worthy or very difficult to optimize. Have only played so far too Lance, so I don’t know how coins income will be but I think mainly those steroids which start doubling after 128k coins will be very difficult to accumulate without such a coupon feature which would allow to theoretically double 1 type of steroids for 1 character, I personally don’t feel it would be balance breaking if Natz for example could receive 2-times the PhysAtt and PhysDef steroid instead of just once though it could enable powerspikes when people like go extra PhysAtt and PhysDef on Matt, making him a crazy PhysAtt hitter, yet it’s just 1 person receiving this treatment.

Is this sth to think about?

Hello there! Please, do not say ‘General Kenobi.’ I am here becouse of my little bro. Well, not so little, he’s eleven. Anyway, he asked me, to ask if there is any possibility to get something as ‘Map editor.’ He’s just nuts about creating his own levels in absolutly every game which gives him such possibility. Thus, in the name of my little bro, oh allmighty Dev, who surpasses even the Godcat herself, is there any chance for my brother to became a smal level designer, with the tools of yours? I beg for listening to my humble request and for answer, wether it will be refuse or approval.

Soooooo, do we still get this for free? (not the premium version, obviously)

Sorry if the answer is blatantly obvious, I’m a rather clueless person :smirk: :smirk:

I participated in the German Bullet Heaven 2 translation project and hope that I will get invited to this translation as well. I’m looking forward to Epic Battle Fantasy 5, Epic Battle Fantasy 4 was amazing.

What if i gave you money for a couple months to cover the cost of the game before hand but had to cancel any future payments because of finances. 😥 Will i still be able to get it even it i haven’t given you money in a a long time? i originally started to help support the production of this game :love2: but was unable to continue. Do i need to look it up and show you or how will it be know? :wut:

That’s fine, I can see how much you’ve given in total, even if you’re not currently giving anything.

OK so i found out how to look and discovered that it was cancelled before the second payment when i thought i did it after so i will probably be re “patroning” to get the about in, even though it would even up be 16 instead of the 15, or can i like paypal you the other 7 for it?

also i was kind of curious about it is the file for my computer then or like a 1 time thing? cuz my current computer might be a little weak for it but the new one im gettting here in a couple months will be much better. Will i be able to put it on my new one or will i have to just wait till i get my new computer to play it?

You can save the stuff you get on Patreon forever, but you won’t get the newest versions if you’re not signed up anymore. The game’s not gonna be out for a month or two still, so you you’ve got time for another payment through Patreon.

The Steam version won’t have “official” support, but there will be a simple workaround you can do to get it running on Mac.

So there are acheivements for beating Anna and Lance on Epic, but not NoLegs or Natz. However, there ARE medals for getting all of them to surrender.

Idea for extra content later on, curtsey of the Loading Screen:
    A slime piano.
    Seriously!
You have QWERTYUIOP as the keys of the piano (or you can click on a specific type of slime). Then, a slime goes poof and vanishes while the corresponding slime popping sound plays.
Yes its ridiculous and it probably won’t be put in but its a fun idea.

Out of curiosity are Steam Sale games chosen by the developer or by the people running Steam? I’d assume the former but wanted to ask.

If we get it early through Patreon, would we be allowed to stream/record it early, or would you want us to wait until it’s fully launched like with the other Patreon demos? Either way I’m beyond excited to cover every little detail of this game! :yay:

So I’m guessing you are doing Kongregate release in like Jan/Feb 2019 then?
Honestly EBF5 is instant Best of 20XX Quest material, though releasing it in very late 2018 may result in it missing out! Shock and despair!

Awesome! Definitively going to buy EBF5 at launch, but might well also get Bullet Heaven 2 at 20% when the bundle is out.

What’s the difference between the Web and Steam versions? And if there is a difference in content, will there be premium content on the web version to bridge the gap?

Nice! Played the Patreon beta for quite some time now (got the raft) and decided to wait for the final release before going deeper for the best first-playthrough experience I can still get. Everything about the game’s great so far (other than a few minor bugs like question marks instead of unlocked character icons in Stats/Skills menu), can’t wait.
