EBF5: Matt Gifs

Matt’s got a few totally new animations, like this sword throwing attack which I spent a bit too long making. (Getting the momentum on attacks like this to feel “right” is hard)

On top of having different sound effects, each weapon also has different colored sword-trails for the Cleaver, Swift Slash and Unleash animations.

I think hair dye will be a Newgame+ feature.

    It’s kinda a late post for this topic, but maybe it also could be an idea to make those dyes unlockable by the 1st game completion, so that we can use dyes when we decide to start another new game. There are better ways to improve replayability.

    Is Matt’s “Sword Throwing” animation based off of something? It kinda looks like (Kingdom Hearts) Sora’s Keyblade throw.

    Exp and Drop chance ?
    For my game I used some self-made function, that I tested, improved and I used my calculator, draw them in a graphics, continue…
    You need to know :
    Level Experience needed/Number of Monster*Level of monster
    You will found a way to get it fair and balanced, too bad that I forgot it

    Nice dye on matt
    Nice Sword animation tryhard
    Nice new sword trail (but it used to be in EBF4 too)
    Can’t wait to see fusion blade

    Hey Kupo how did you decided the exp amount to level up or the monsters health…? i’m trying to make a rpg but i’m stuck in this part , it was try and error?

    Just a suggestion, but an alternative way of sword-throwing is to grasp the handle between middle and ring fingers, and push the handguard with the inside of these fingers.
    It might help with the momentum issue.

    I like this! And I think it’ll be a good idea if dye could be found in place of the “regular” equipment. Like, “I should make this quest again, I already have the sword but now the reward is a dye”

    I like the new animations.
    They’re expertly done and add a nice little touch to the game, which just goes to show the amount of work put into it.

    As far as dye goes with new game plus, I think it wold be a good idea to put most of them in NG+, but have a select few in a hard to get chest that match the area.
    (Ex. red dye in a volcano area, black in a graveyard, blue near water, ect.)
    That way, new players will know the characters for their original hair, but if they want to change it to 3 or 4 different colors (through very hard work i’d assume), they can.

    The sword throwing animation looks wonky to me. Maybe because of the timing? Matt lacks a sense of weight and I think the sword spinning would look a lot more dynamic if the sword had a circular trail smearing as it spun.

      He just uses Flash Pro, either the in-built vectors or the brush. He’s been using a tablet for the game artwork since 3.

    I like the animations and i remember that Lance has some attacks that damage everything but ht e damage is centered on one. I was wondering if Matt will get more attacks like that?

    (If he does i was hoping for something where he taps a monster on the head with his sword and powerful magic originates form there, damaging everything, but mostly the selected monster.)

      I see where you’re coming from with that idea, but the whole point of a character like Matt is to be a physical damage kinda guy.

      That would be like saying Natalie needs more physical attacks with her staff. It just wouldn’t make sense for a character to use a move that goes against their fighting type. 👿 :bacon:

    Love that first animation! (Looks kinda like Strike Raid from Kingdom Hearts) Also, I like the hair dye idea, but I feel like it should be there from the start of the game. But you could unlock more colors as you find/buy them as you progress. :smirk:

    Loving the new animations. Those little touches of detail really make the game feel alive.

    I’m not sure about having all the hair dye being a NewGame+ feature. Maybe give one or two basic dyes to begin with, with the majority of them unlocked via NewGame+?

        Actually that makes sense, didn’t think about that.

        Odd question, but for Matt’s voice, are you going to use your own voice, or premade grunts like the rest of the characters?
