EBF5: Fish

Fish are back, with their trademark counter-attack! People were annoyed that there wasn’t really any way of stopping it (even though it wasn’t that powerful), so this time maybe Syphon or Stun or something will stop it from happening.
I really like how the Steampunk fish turned out – I’ve had trouble making cool wind elemental stuff in previous games, but I think I’m getting better at it.

Last attack was easily dealt with for me with Bomb resistance gear, which were mah favorite for some reason. Btw: what’s element of Special 3 of steel fish? It’s same as amethyst bit of hell golem, and that uses same crystal as amethyst boulders/golems. WHAT’S THE BLASTED HECK IS PURPLE ELEMENT?!?!?!. :wut: ❓ :wut: ❓ :wut: ❓ Matt, plz, say it finally! Maybe it’s non-elemental at all?

I think the death attack makes the fish unique. its not that annoying, it does low damage, only happens once per fish and only targets one player. keep it! 😡

I would expect that the hovertank will be the closest to a ‘big mecha boss’ we’re going to get for this game.

The copper and steel fish look epic, but honestly I don’t like the knight-ish design of the gold fish.

Damn yeah the aftermath may not be powerful but it’s annoying as hell 😡 but it is cool most games never would have stopped to do that and there is a way to stop it kill all the monsters at once :shades:

Thank you Matt This shall be the best game ever! :stars:

Attack 3 (on the first and third Fishes) was my favorite out of all of the attacks the fish had :bacon:

These Fish seem a lot more interesting now. The death attack was a bit irritating to deal with – unless you had high evade it was basically forced damage.

Well, yeah, but ALL attacks are forced damage. A good portion, if not most enemies outright, have enough health that you can’t kill them in one shot. Fish (depending on your level and difficulty I guess) are generally an exception to this.
If the death attack did anything obnoxious I could understand why people are bothered, but it’s basically just them letting off one last standard attack.
I say keep the death attack, it’s unique, and makes them memorable.

You do raise a good point. I just want to quickly explain what I meant.

When you kill an enemy, that enemy is generally done for. Because it has no more health, it is no longer a threat. But because the Fish will always use their death attack when killed, that was what I meant by forced damage, although you’re right, I guess all enemy attacks are. 😛
Personally I don’t hate the death attack, but I just found it a little irritating to have to deal with. I’d love to have some sort of way to stop it but I can’t say I want it completely removed.

The death attack can also be avoided by the battle ending or killing all the enemies in the wave(?).

Yup. That’s generally how I do it. I knock ’em all down to low health then field-wipe the suckers with Matt’s windslash.
