EBF5: Defenders

Here’s some new Defenders! They’re closely related to the Flybots I did earlier – and they’ll be extra dangerous when paired up with them.
The Flybots can use party buffs, and these guys will give “Target” status to Players, which causes all enemies to focus on them (another reason to swap them out!).

I really enjoy how all the machine enemies look in EBF5, they all have a lot of unique design points and color that makes them all very unique, and these are no exception. I also like how the blue defender seems to have a different element for all 4 attacks, certainly helps to keep it interesting! :yay:

Just curious, are you thinking of giving any enemies two or more turns? By that I mean they can do two things per enemy turn rather than one, and not just because they have an extra turret or tail that is a part of them as a separate enemy.

I remember playing Final Fantasy 3 as a child, and the first fight with the ‘Salamander’ was what I’d consider ‘that one boss.’ It had powerful moves in its own right, but it was the first enemy in the game to introduce enemies being able to act more than once per turn. It was one of the hardest, and most memorable, bosses to me of that game.

Maybe not normal enemies, but perhaps the final boss or extra hard bonus bosses could do multiple attacks per turn, just to add to the challenge.

Alternatively, XCOM just released its Alien Hunt expansion which adds ‘Ruler’ units which are basically revamped normal enemies that, while having a lot of other tricks up their sleive, are also able to make a move once per move your characters make. So instead of ‘your turn-enemy turn-your turn…’ its ‘Matt’s Turn-boss turn-Nat’s Turn-boss turn-Lance’s Turn-boss turn.’ Just another interesting mechanic that could add some verity to the bosses.

I was thinking of adding a status effect that gives an extra turn. Also Chibi Knight would probably have two turns.

Oh, I did not have fun with these guys one-shotting my party members with their swords in EBF4. I like the idea of the Target status though; I guess theoretically you could use it to your advantage in certain situations.

One thing i’m wondering is if there is a story made yet? Is there? Because if there is already then I can’t wait to see how all of these enemies will be involved!

Hum nice idea to creat a “Focus” status… but could it also become a spell ? ❓
Like if matt could use a Taunt that apply himself “Focus” and make him counter attack for the next wave :shades:

Also, only 2 Defender ? or the Old one will be there too 🙁

Also, their Special attacks seem awkward –

(As mentioned in a reply to one of your tweets,) The charging circle of the shock Defender comes from the center, but really there should be two, one coming from each side cannon.

The freeze/water Defender’s special also has both cannons, but only one burst of air. It doesn’t even look like they’re aiming at the same target, it just looks like one of them failed to fire completely.

    Wow!
That’s a cool idea! :shades: :yay:
But, wait, does this mean that they’ll be
more difficult than what they were in
    EBF4??!
This is really bad news! :scared:
Ehm, but this can be and good news since
we’ll be able to know who they will attack, right?
